Flying Solo - Day 2

Yesterday ended up going pretty well in the end...
As a result (I assume), Sam had a better night last night, which means that everyone else did as well.  It probably helped that Kate went to bed at 8:30, shortly after Sam did.
Her first day back at work was okay also.  Mostly because it was busy enough that she didn't have time to dwell on not being home.  She did call me once, and text me once to see how things were going, but that's way less than I expected.
Sam and I were actually able to get quite a bit done yesterday afternoon.  We did hang out at home for a while watching bad movies on Direct TV to see if Sam would take a nap, but after that we were able to get to the post office, the grocery store, and Whole Foods.  Today's goal is to get to the gym to work out (this is Kate's gym, which I'll probably join; they have childcare...), and then Target for more bottles.  It turns out that we have enough bottles to supplement breastfeeding, but not enough for when breastfeeding supplements bottle feeding (I'm referring to delivery method here, not actual food substance, that's all breast milk).  One thing that didn't go so well yesterday was chasing around trying to find bottle supplies with a howling baby, and not being able to because we don't have enough of them.

Tomorrow the nanny that we hired comes over to be trained.  This is a recent college graduate (Early Childhood Development) that we hired to come over to our house to take care of Sam Monday through Wednesday during the day.  Her name is Megan, by the way (for when I refer to her by name later).  She did very well in her interview, and her references were so glowing that they almost seemed too good.
My biggest concern is actually the dog.  One of the hazards of babies and dogs is that dogs like to eat dirty diapers.
And that's normal dogs (this is per Kate, of course).
Our dog is anything but normal as far as his ability to ingest and pass pretty much anything goes (he once ate Kate's checkbook, and then passed it intact).
Thing is, eating a diaper is almost always fatal for the dog, for a lot of reasons that I don't have the background to describe.  Kate says so, which is all the background on that that I need.  This means that we need to be religious about throwing the old diaper into the disposal right away, which seems simple, but really isn't with everything else that's going on around a diaper change.  We do have the advantage that Megan gets to go home at night, so she's not sleep deprived in the same way that we are.
