Kate is just beginning to develop the tiniest bit of a baby bump.
Or maybe EM is developing into a baby bump. I'm not really certain which of them is appropriately responsible for that.
In any case, Kate has just a little bit of baby showing at her lower abdomen.
She says that it's gas.
She went out and bought some pants with a larger waist size than normal a couple of weeks ago, and I think she's been wearing them. She also got a bunch of maternity clothes from friends that have had babies recently, but she's not showing enough for those. It's not really noticeable yet, I don't think. I mean, we're not to the stage where strangers are coming up to her and touching her abdomen, which is a good thing. I'm actually a little uncertain as to how that's going to go over. We should probably talk about it so that I know what's expected of me. I'm guessing my role will be to either look scary so that nobody does it uninvited, or to be the one that cleans up the debris afterwards.
Probably the latter.
Last week we had our contractors come over to give us an estimate on putting a new bathroom in in our house, down in the basement.
For anyone reading this that hasn't been in our house, it's very small. When we bought it it was around 960 square feet, with one bathroom. We've since finished half of the basement, which adds greatly to the space, but there's still only one bathroom. As the pregnancy progresses that's beginning to become an issue, as Kate needs to use it way more than she ever has. EM has been displaying this tendency to stand directly on her bladder at night. Also during the day.
Frankly, it's interrupting my reading.
So Dan and Steven (general carpentry and plumbing, respectively) came by to talk to us about putting in a bathroom in the basement. These guys are really good, they've already redone our kitchen and our bathroom. By now they know us pretty well, well enough that Steven even picks out fixtures for us and we pretty much just trust that he'll get our taste right.
So, in preparation for having them put a bathroom with a shower stall in the basement we began disassembling my office today. I don't really use it much as an office anyhow. It does have my speed bag platform mounted on the wall, and I'll have to relocate that, I guess.
Anyhow, we broke down the desk that my dad built us years ago, and hauled the ugly as hell recliner that I bought on clearance at Comfort Shop out of there.
We might put the ugly as hell recliner on Craigslist, so if anyone is in the market for an ugly as hell recliner keep an eye out.
The idea with the basement is to make a space for people that are going to come visit after the baby is born, though we won't have much space for many people. even with a new bathroom. Plus, I'll be in there, finally able to read without being interrupted all the time.
